I never did because they are hideously expensive, but I told my mom I'd split the cost with her if I could maybe get one for Christmas. Naturally, I am thrilled to find that although Amazon.com is currently selling the one I want for $299, they do not ship to Canada for this particular item1. Fail. 1 Since someone usually brings this up when I lament on non-Canadian shipping options: in this particular case I don't want to have this item shipped to a U.S. friend to then have shipped to me, but thank you if it did cross your mind. :) By comparison, the one I want is $499 in the Sears catalogue and on their website. $499. It's too bad you can't write numbers in all caps, because that's what I wanted to do the second time I wrote $499. The Canadian dollar is currently at $0.94 USD according to the Bank of Canada as of two minutes ago; $499 is an unacceptable price mark-up! I don't even care what the exchange rate was when the catalogue went to print, the online prices are still really high too. I know that it takes a while for good exchange rates to actually filter down into the price of goods, but this mark-up is beyond what even our unhealthy low exchange rates are. Unacceptable! 3) I'd cook more if I had a mixer, I really would. 4) I mostly plan on quilting this week, with some other things thrown in for good measure. amazingaudrey and I are seeing Gone With The Wind in HD (really?) on Saturday morning, which will be exciting. I'm having lunch with some friends on Wednesday and I think Audrey and I will also be baking cookies too. Hooray. 5 comments|post comment
